Off to Anchorage!

With the 2025 season now behind us, and Fishability Alaska’s “soft opening” complete, I’m off to Anchorage for this year’s Alaska Travel Industry Association’s convention , where industry leaders, legislators, marketing experts, and operators like me convene to learn, build relationships, and prepare for the forthcoming season.
I attended my first ATIA convention in 2022, when Fishability was still just a concept in development. Nevertheless, I won a “Peoples’ Choice” award at that year’s meeting!
By the convention in 2023, I’d secured financing for the vessel, which was custom-built for accessibility right at home in Ketchikan…during the convention in 2024.
This year, I’ll be able to speak directly to cruise line industry representatives and our shared colleagues about the actual operation of the boat. I can speak to how it runs; how it fishes; and how it opens up ocean activities to travelers with disabilities.
My objectives every year are to learn, to establish new relationships, and to find new opportunities to reach travelers with disabilities who may be heading to Ketchikan. While I will happily take anybody out fishing or wildlife-watching, those travelers with disabilities—and their travel companions—are who I’ve had in mind from the very start.
There’s much for me to learn, as always! I hope to see you on the boat next summer.
Cheers,
Captain Jack
